The KB is going too … The KB is going too high, she’s using her arms to lift too much, when she should be using the explosion from her hips to move the KB, the squat is fine though. The Russian Swing is the correct swing, if you mix tired arms with too high a swing, bad things could happen, let’s not forget it is an iron cannonball with a handle, this video isn’t much for safety, or proper technique.
Well, there are … Well, there are many different ways to use it, but 45 degrees is the best thing to do. In fact pulling it overhead it considered incorrect by almost anyone teaching Kettlebell Certifications other than crossfit.
It is not really bad though. But the question remains wether I would do it with an 80 pounder. I would not, because it would be stupid.
If I recall … If I recall correctly, and I haven’t had enough coffee yet so…, the method you’re talking about is an American style and the one we use in CrossFit is a Russian.
Not really, … Not really, actually the other way round.
But both are valid. My message was not meant to diss crossfit by the way because I love this approach.
What is called the “Russian Swing” is better called “RKC Swing” or “Pavel Swing” because I have yet to see another russian guy doing it. Jeff Martone invented the swing over your head and called it american Swing.
The girevoy sports swing is very different, if you wish, I can post a video with comparisons in lifting. Both are valid but different
Basically it’s a … Basically it’s a big pulling exercise. In kettlebell and general strength conditioning you can’t say it works such and such muscle as you will in bodybuilding. It works the whole body’s pulling motion. Even so-called pushing muscles work synergistically in pulling motion if the stress is big enough.
Nice work there! … Nice work there! Especially with the 32 kg bell. There are different approaches to the swing out there. The problem as I see it in this video is the use of joggingshoes. Shoes with thick soles isolate the body mechanically from the ground and thereby makes the exercise less effective. It also increases the risk of injuries.
