kettle bell workout – what weight should i use?

hey! could you help me.

Im a strong girl and love to lift weights and so on. Love a good workout. P90x, treadmill, weights, balls, bands, riding my bike and so on.

The kettlebell workouts look great. I really want to know what weight should i use for someone like myself?

Should i just go by the heaviest weights that i use at home or should i tame it down a tadge being female. I certainly dont want massive muscles.

Thanks for your help.

Gina…

Don’t worry about getting massive muscles, as a woman, unless you’re on roids, it’s not gunna happen!

For the kettlebells, obviously you may need different weights for different exercises. For example, you can lift a lot more for a swing than you can doing windmills/presses.

But I would recommend starting with an 8kg. You probably could cope with a 12kg, but in order to get all the techniques right, it’s probably good to start off slightly lighter. So go for an 8.

I’d also recommend getting a book/dvd on KBs – anything by Pavel Tsatsouline is good.

Hope this helps.
