Kettlebells work EVERYTHING! You need to keep your abs tight during the workouts, so your core gets a good workout. The basic swing makes it look like you’re using your arms, but your legs and glutes are what propel the kettlebell forward, so it works your glutes and legs a lot. Your heart rate will go up so you’re getting a great cardiovascular workout. There are so many different moves you can do with them that every muscle will be worked.
Before discovering kettlebells my instructor used to ride his bike for 2 hours a day plus he did weight training a few times a week, and now he is in better shape by just doing 20 minutes of kettlebell 2-3 times per week. It is an amazing workout!
The site I’ll link to below has a lot of information and videos about kettlebells so you can get a feel for the different moves. The kettlebells you’ll see at most stores aren’t heavy enough (since your lower body is propelling the kettlebells you need a lot more weight than what you’d lift with your arms), so I’ll add another link for buying kettlebells.
Enjoy your new workout!

Question by Williams: Where and what are the best kettlebell workouts?
I am stepping into one of the hardest and most rigorous workouts available in the fitness world: kettlebell workouts. I have talked with my cousin and he has given me a brief workout (and no doubt it is great), but where else can I locate more about daily/weekly routines with the kettlebells. How long before the actual workout starts (each day) does one need to stretch? I want to also focus on my abs. Is it best to do that in between sets? I also understand a lot of how I look depends on how I eat, but my main concern is finding the exact and right routine so I can have in front of me everyday on paper so I do not stray from it to go down my own path. Where can I find more kettlebell workouts? I think I have the strength and conditioning. Are there also any other- ?
Thanks for any extra help you can provide with understanding kettlebells.

The kettlebell workouts look great. I really want to know what weight should i use for someone like myself?
Should i just go by the heaviest weights that i use at home or should i tame it down a tadge being female. I certainly dont want massive muscles.

Don’t worry about getting massive muscles, as a woman, unless you’re on roids, it’s not gunna happen!
For the kettlebells, obviously you may need different weights for different exercises. For example, you can lift a lot more for a swing than you can doing windmills/presses.
But I would recommend starting with an 8kg. You probably could cope with a 12kg, but in order to get all the techniques right, it’s probably good to start off slightly lighter. So go for an 8.
I’d also recommend getting a book/dvd on KBs – anything by Pavel Tsatsouline is good.
Hope this helps.
